How do I edit or update my homepage in BigCommerce?…is probably the most common question we receive.
Many website designers that are not preferred website design companies for BigCommerce know just enough to design and skin a site for the BigCommerce platform, but leave the site’s functionality a little lacking. One of the most common concerns for the website owners is managing the home page. Seems like it should be easy, but if you’ve customized a template or a designer has created a completely custom template for you then chances are it isn’t.
So, how do you set up your home page so that you can edit it like the rest of your web pages?
No worries. . . this is pretty easy. We’ll walk you through the process here – should be pretty quick.
This example illustrates how to convert your custom home page named default.html to a WYSIWYG “what you see is what you get” web page like the rest of your pages such as “About Us”, etc. that you can manage in your admin area.
So, here’s what our homepage looks like:
First Click on Design in Your BigCommerce Store Admin area.
Then Click on Template Files.
Next, Click “Edit” on the default.html file.
Then Copy the content from the default.html file.
Next, you will want to create a new website page.
Lastly. . . Paste your default.html page content into your new homepage content area and save. Now you have a homepage that you can edit like the rest of your pages.
