Google’s letting Twitter spread its wings a bit further.

The two companies are tightening their bond as Google announced those using mobile devices will now find tweets as part of their real-time finds on the Google search results. This means when someone searches for something — Katie Perry, for instance — the displayed results will also include tweets about the subject matter.

“It’s a great way to get real-time info when something is happening. And it’s another way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments,” Google’s senior product manager Ardan Arac wrote in a blog post.

While, currently, the change will only be seen in English and on mobile devices that will change — those using desktops will also see tweets show up in their search results as Google continues the rollout.

Perhaps it’s not a life-changing announcement, but, as The Wall Street Journal noted, the news does indicate a strengthening of the relationship between Google and Twitter. This could be good news and may breathe some new life into Twitter which has been struggling lately and hasn’t been seeing an increase in users the way investors would like.

Google may just be what Twitter needs to make it relevant again.
